Frances M. Stiffler

Frances M. Stiffler, 92, resident at Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Hesston and Canoe Creek, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday morning at Homewood.
She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Andrew and Lucy (Irwin) Detwiler. Frances married, Frank R. Stiffler on August 24, 1939 in Maryland, he preceded her in death on June 5, 1982.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Jeryl-Dene Thompson (Harold) of Altoona, and F. Rena’ Mattern (Richard) of Mechanicsburg; a son, Randie (Christine) of New Paris; 6 grandchildren: Kim, Rochelle, Christy, Chad, Heather, and Megan; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by a son, Sheldon; 3 sisters: Martha Merritts, Lucy Mattern, and Mary Chamberlain.
She was a member of Jacob’s Church, Hesston.
Frances was an artist, and also enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, hunting, and teaching Sunday School, which she truly loved.
A public graveside service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Old Canoe Creek Cemetery, rural Hollidaysburg, Pastor H. Lloy Blattenberger officiating.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Jacob’s Church, Hesston (Sunday School Missions).
Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
