Frances Pauline Nicodemus

Frances Pauline Nicodemus, 80, of Martinsburg, peacefully went home to be with her Lord, Thursday afternoon, September 21, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Williamsburg, a daughter of the late Roy Herbert and Marcella A. (Tate) Umbower.  On May 20, 1961, she married John T. Nicodemus in the Saxton Church of God.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 62 years, John; three daughters: Tammy L. Mills (Curtis) of Harrisburg, Susan E. Moran (Thomas) of Camp Hill, and Katherine L. Nicodemus of New Bern, NC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters: Helen Despot and Cheryl Umbower.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Louise, Emma Jean and Mildred.

Frances was a Williamsburg High School graduate before working at Kinney's Shoes.  She later worked as a nurses’ aide, and at Central High School in the cafeteria and as a cleaner.

Frances was an avid baker who enjoyed teaching her daughters to bake, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending her church, reading her Bible and Christian books, and writing poems.

Friends will be received from 11 am until the 12 noon funeral service, Monday, September 25, 2023, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Charles Brewbaker and Pastor Gary Zigner officiating. Interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
