Francis “Fran” J. Camaroto

Francis “Fran” Joseph Camaroto, 73, of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, May 2, 2025 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late George John Sr. and Frances Patricia (Lockawich) Camaroto. On July 5, 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Susan K. Frye at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Susan of 55 years; two children: Rebecca A. Mingle (Michael) and Anthony J. Camaroto (Catherine Weil) both of Williamsburg; three grandchildren: Gabriel Mingle, Jack Sheesley and Kassie Mingle; three sisters: Georgeann Mayhue, Dona Gorsuch (John) and Joyce Bertres; and his best buddy, Rick Gunnett.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia May Camaroto; a grandson, Noah M. Mingle; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Saulen; and a brother, George John Camaroto Jr.
Fran was a 1969 graduate of Williamsburg High School. Following graduation he moved to the Philadelphia area to work for his uncle, Joe Camaroto, who taught him how to operate heavy equipment. Fran then moved back home in 1972 and began his 47 year journey of owning and operating Fran Camaroto Excavating. During those years he took pride in doing his job to best of his ability, but Fran was most proud of getting the chance to work alongside his son, Tony.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Williamsburg, the Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg, Sons of the American Legion and Buck Snort Hunting Camp on Lock Mountain.
Fran loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and making them homemade spaghetti on Sundays. He also enjoyed cooking on the smoker that he built, making his favorite foods from different restaurant, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 4-8pm, Friday, May 9, 2025 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be recited. A funeral mass will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Father Aron Maghsoudi celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg.
