Gail G. Ayers, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, February 28, 2021, at her home.

She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Albert and Hannah (Stoudnour) Grimes. On April 7, 1952, she married Robert E. Ayers in Henrietta and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1989.

Surviving are three sons: Robert W. Ayers of Martinsburg, Gregg A. Ayers of Pittsburgh, and Joe L. Ayers of Lemoyne; a granddaughter Jennifer Amber Heath (David) of Pittsburgh; two great-grandchildren Jonathan and Hannah Heath; a sister Sandra Rainer of Milwaukee, WI.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores “Terry” Lose.

Gail was a 1952 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg, where she formerly taught Sunday school. Gail was also a member of Daughters of the Nile, Hollidaysburg Chapter #471 Order of the Eastern Star and also a longtime member of the former Roaring Spring Chapter #121 O.E.S.

She was primarily a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed ballroom dancing and bowling.

Friends will be received from 6-8pm, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg and from 10am until the 11am funeral service, Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenneth G. Downs officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
