He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late James H. and F. Lucille (Smith) Baker.  On June 15, 1968, he married Nancy L. Metzger at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Roaring Spring.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy of 55 years: two children: Brent Y. Baker (Betsy) of rural Martinsburg and Brooke E. Snider (Chris) of Germantown, MD; four grandchildren: Grace Winters (Casey), Mason Baker (Erin Hoffman), Nicholas Snider and Noah Snider; a sister, Pam J. Gary was preceded in death by two sisters: Sally Ann Hoover and Connie J. Baker; and three brothers: J. Ronald Baker, J. Donald Baker and R. Gerald “Jerry” Baker.

He was a 1961 graduate of Central High School and a proud member of the first Central football team.  Gary was a lifelong dairy farmer in Morrisons Cove and lived his entire life on their family’s farm.

Gary was a longtime, faithful member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where he formerly served as a deacon.  He was also a member of the Martinsburg Sportsmen’s Association and Pinederosa Hunting Camp in Lycoming County.

He loved spending time with his family, being in the outdoors, especially hunting and riding his four-wheeler on their farm.  Back in his younger days, Gary also enjoyed bowling and pitching for his fast-pitch softball team.

Friends will be received from 10am until 12noon, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will begin at 12noon, Mr. Eric Martin officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K.
