Gary A. “Bucket” Taylor

January 21, 1959 ~ December 11, 2024

Gary Allen “Bucket” Taylor, 65, of Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 11, 2024, while doing what he loved, hunting deer.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles E. “Chuck” and Alma Jean (Gabrielson) Taylor.

Surviving are three sons: Lucas M. Taylor (Ashlee), Zach A. Taylor (Chelsie) and Clinton J. “C.J.” Taylor (Dessirae) all of Roaring Spring; 10 grandchildren: Jaden, Reece, Dean, Arriannna, Kamden, Drayvin, Kessler, Kayden, Tripp and Remi; two sisters: LuAnn Fisher and Cathy Snider (Birch); and two brothers: Larry Taylor (Angela) and Denny Taylor (Mindy); longtime companion, Laurie Bowers; and many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Young and her husband, Jeffrey; a brother, Chuck Taylor and his wife, Colleen; and a brother-in-law, Steve Fisher.

Bucket was a 1977 graduate of Northern Bedford County High School.  He was employed as a Journey Lineman for many years working for: Blattenberger’s Line Construction, New Enterprise Rural Electric, Davis H. Elliot Company Inc. and C.W. Wright Construction Company Inc.  Bucket was a highly skilled lineman, who later in his career helped train and mentor many new trainees.  He was currently working as a sales associate at Long’s Outpost in Martinsburg and if he ever assisted you at the store, it may have taken a little longer than usual, because he always had a story or joke for every customer.

He was a member of the Redefined Community Church, where he was recently baptized.   Bucket was also a member of the Martinsburg Sportsmen’s Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and former member of the Shady Trail Riding Club.

Bucket loved spending time with his family; especially hunting with his boys and watching his grandchildren play sports.  He also enjoyed camping, horseback riding, dirt track racing, quad hill climbing and was instrumental in starting the Blair Bedford Dirt Drags.

Friends will be received from 4-8pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Redefined Community Church (Morrisons Cove Memorial Park Banquet Facility) and from 10 until 11am, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the park, where a funeral service will begin at 11am, Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bucket’s memory may be given to Redefined Community Church, 201 S. Walnut St., Suite A, Martinsburg, PA 16662 or Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation c/o http://rmef.org.
