Gene E. Bowser

Gene E. Bowser, 85, Roaring Spring, passed away late Monday morning at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Clark H. and Faye M. (McGinnis) Bowser. Gene was twice married, first to Marjorie N. Kepple in 1952, and then to Ruth B. Dubbs in 1980, they both preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Michael E. of Sebring, FL; a step-son, David A. Dubbs of Martinsburg; 2 grandchildren: Brad and Andrew; 2 step granddaughters: a brother, Kenneth C. of Baxley, GA; and Vickie Bowers, whom Gene considered his daughter, of Roaring Spring.
He was a 1949 graduate of Roaring Spring High School, and also received a certificate at the Wheeled Vehicle Maintenance School, Fort Knox, KY.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1950-1952 attaining the rank of corporal.
He was a self employed automotive machinist in Roaring Spring for over 50 years, a member of the Certified Automotive Service Excellence, Mobile Air Conditioning Service, and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans.
Gene formerly attended Leamersville Church of the Brethren, he enjoyed shooting sports, making and repairing guns and was a stockholder of the Green Bay Packers Football Team.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing, however a public memorial service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor Charles J. Brewbaker officiating. Interment with military flag honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Animal Welfare Association.
