George E. Isenberg, 65, Martinsburg, passed away Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Robert F. and Geneva H. (Hollingshead) Isenberg.  On August 4, 1979 he married Mary Jane Aldstadt at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 36 years; 2 sons: Nick R. (Erin) of Duncansville and Josh A. (Cindy Fox) of Martinsburg; a daughter, Jena K. of Martinsburg; and 2 grandchildren: Brynlee and Drew Isenberg.

George was a 1969 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg and a 1973 graduate of Elizabethtown College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

He retired in 2013 from the Spring Cove School District as an elementary school teacher with 33 years of service.

George was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, The Martinsburg Sportsman’s Club and a member of the former Martinsburg Jaycees.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching all the Pittsburgh sports teams.

Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Monday, July 18, 2016 at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the church, Pastor Joel F. Nogle officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Memorial Church of the Brethren, 210 N. Wall St., Martinsburg, PA  16662 or the American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, PA  16648.
