Gerta Daneen (Waite) Mingle-Strohmeyer

Gerta W. Strohmeyer, 82, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday evening, July 23, 2022, at UPMC Altoona surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late H. Dewayne “Bud” and Esther L. (Fry) Waite. She was twice married, first to Richard A. Mingle Sr. and then to Charles V. “Chuck” Strohmeyer, both preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons: Marion “Bud” (Tina) Mingle, Richard Allen Mingle Jr.( Jamie Smith) and Michael W. (Becky) Mingle; a daughter, Marlene R. Mingle-Lynch (Rob); two step-sons: Timothy A. (Tricia) Strohmeyer all of Williamsburg and Charles V. “Chuckie” (Julie) Strohmeyer of Hollidaysburg; a step-daughter, Pamela Moss of Loveland, OH; nine grandchildren: Joshua (Lynea) Mingle, Angela (Josh) Becker, Alicia (Vince) Lindemuth, Dillon (Brittany) Snyder, Gabriel Mingle, Kassie Mingle, Bella Strohmeyer, Larson Lynch, and Finn Lynch; nine great-grandchildren: Haylie, Alayna and Madisyn Mingle, Evan, Abby and Ryanna Becker, Ally Hughes, Seth Lindemuth and Wyatt Snyder; a brother, Ronald D. (Becky) Waite of Huntingdon; two special nieces: Lou Ann Benitez of Altoona and Barbara Breeden in Florida; and two special host granddaughters: Maho Katoh of Japan and Laura Harlass of Germany .

Gerta was preceded in death by a son, Robert William Mingle; a grandson, Noah Mingle; three sisters: Dorcas J. Zimmerman, Gladys J. Mogle and Gloria B. Leonard; and her faithful companion, Maggie.

She was a 1957 graduate of Williamsburg High School, where she was a member of the marching band. Gerta was a longtime member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church where she played the organ and served faithfully in various capacities.

Gerta retired in 2015 from the Williamsburg Senior Center after 17 years of service and previously worked for Beasley Ford/Rothrauff Ford, Altoona for 17 years and U.S. Envelope/Westvaco, Williamsburg, for 7 years.

She loved spending time with her family and also knitting, crocheting, cooking, playing cards, and piano.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and from 10 until 11 am Thursday, July 28, 2022, where a funeral service will follow at 11am at the church, Pastor C. Matthew Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
