GIULA  PHILLIPS GLOVER – OBITUARY

Giula Phillips Glover, 96, died January 21, 2013, at Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, PA.

Mrs. Glover was born February 18, 1916 in Kinston, NC to the late Claude Edward and Bertie Lee Hoffman Phillips.  She moved to Dover, NC after her marriage to William K. Glover in 1932 and lived there for 57 years.  She then lived at the Mount Olive (NC) Retirement Village for 5 years, and in 1996 moved to Homewood Retirement Center to be near her son.

Mrs. Glover was primarily a homemaker but was a substitute teacher at Dover School in the 1950’s.  She was very active with the March of Dimes during the polio epidemic of the early 50’s, serving as regional director for four years.  In later years, she and her husband owned and operated Glover’s Antiques in Dover.  Mrs. Glover was a member of the DAR and the Dover United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Glover was preceded in death by her husband in 1989 and a son, William K. Glover, Jr. in 1972.  She is survived by a son, Dr. E. Lee Glover of Everett, PA and a grandson, Michael Lee Glover of Cary, NC.

Arrangements are by S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury, PA and the Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange, NC.  Remembrances of Mrs. Glover may be made to the United Methodist Church, Dover, NC 28526 or to Homewood Benevolent Fund, 437 Givler Drive, Martinsburg, PA 16662.

Interment of ashes at the Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC, will take place at a future date, to be announced.
