Glenn Franklin Roub, 80, of Altoona, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away, unexpectedly, Wednesday morning, September 1, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Saxton, son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Glass) Roub.

Surviving are three sisters: Pauline “Polly” Butts of Baltimore, Betty Burket (David) of Claysburg and Donna Clark of Everett. In July, Glenn got to make a trip with his sisters to Baltimore, where they sang and played music at the Roub family reunion.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: infant Kenneth, Carl “Cub”, Allan and Gerald Roub; and two sisters: Dorothy Kelly and Hazel Wright.

Glenn was a 1958 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg, attended McPherson College in Kansas and completed his education at the Pennsylvania State University.

He served a year in California with the Brethren Volunteer Service. Glenn also spent over two years in Poland and France with the governmental volunteer services, teaching families about farming techniques and interpreting for doctors.

Glenn worked as a local land surveyor for 15 years. He also sold and tuned pianos for The Music Emporium, Altoona. In his younger years, he was employed with Leidy’s Home Furnishings in Martinsburg.

He loved music and was a self-taught musician, who could beautifully play the piano or guitar.  Glenn’s favorite music was country, but he also enjoyed 60’s and 70’s rock and roll. He was a longtime member of the Midnight Cowboys and also played with several other bands over the years. Glenn played many shows throughout the years; however, playing for senior citizen groups held a special place in his heart.  He will be dearly missed by his family and fans.

Friends will be received from 3-4pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home, Pastor Aaron Musselman officiating.  Interment will follow at Brumbaugh Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
