Greg “Hodgie” Samuelson, 48, West Loop, Hollidaysburg passed away Thursday afternoon at UPMC Altoona following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Altoona, son of William R. and Barbara J. (Chamberlain) Samuelson.  He married Karen L. (Shope) Gardner on December 5, 2003 in Altoona.

Surviving are his father of Cessna; mother of Hollidaysburg; wife; 2 sons: Matthew T. Gardner (Stef Davis) and Fischer W. all of Hollidaysburg; a sister, Karianna Mazur (Tom) of Cassandra; 2 brothers: Michael (Donna) and Scott all of Hollidaysburg; and friend and caregiver, Paul German.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chris W. who died November 14, 2007.

Greg was a 1985 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and attended the Puzzletown Road Bible Church.

He was employed as the owner and operator of Samuelson Splicing & Activation and had worked in the cable television industry for over 30 years.

Greg enjoyed fishing and spending his weekends with family and friends at the “shooting shanty”.  Even though he had a tough exterior, Greg always showed his big heart for his pet dogs and cats.

Friends will be received from 5:30 pm until the 7 pm, memorial service, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, Pastor Lynn F. Johnston officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to God’s Connection Transition (GCT).
