Hazel O. Hoover, 92, of Martinsburg, passed away Monday morning, September 2, 2019, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Arnold F. and Julia R. (Barley) Over.  On September 11, 1948, she married Rodger S. “Bacon” Hoover in Roaring Spring.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 71 years; a son, L. Colin (Debra) Hoover of Martinsburg; three grandchildren: Justin C. and Andrew B., both of Hollidaysburg, and Travis S. (Kiley) of Martinsburg; and a sister, Judith Ann (William) Dambeck of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: A. Carlton, and Jerre R.; and a sister, Geraldine E. Davis.

Hazel was a 1945 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg, and completed her education at the Altoona School of Commerce.  She was employed as a bookkeeper for K.R. Miller and later worked as a teacher’s aide for the Hollidaysburg School District IU8 Program for 25 years.

She was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, and the Roaring Spring Chapter #121 Order of the Eastern Star.

Hazel loved spending time with her family, skiing, and riding her motorcycle.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 am funeral service, Friday, September 6, 2019, at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, Rev. Traci Marriott Bowman officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, 115 E. Penn St., Martinsburg.
