Helen A. (Colledge) Bechtel

Helen A. Bechtel, 94, of Hopewell, formerly of New Enterprise, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. She was born on September 3, 1931 in Rays Cove, Bedford County; daughter of the late Clifford and Martha (Garlick) Colledge. On July 11, 1953 in Cumberland, Maryland she was united in marriage to Donald Harvey Bechtel; he preceded her in death on May 16, 1979.

Helen “retired” at the young age of 90! She was employed by Everett Manufacturing Company (Sewing Factory) and later Cove Shoe Company. She was an excellent cook, working at the Landmark and Kountry Kettle restaurants. Helen enjoyed time spent with her family.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; grandsons: Brandon and Brian Bechtel; and siblings: Foster, James, Francis “Pete”, Arnold, Clair, Doris, Daniel, Kise, Ronald, and Blaine. Surviving is son, Donald W. Bechtel (Nancy) of Berlin; daughter, Wanda G. Miller (John) of Hopewell; son, Terry E. Bechtel (Bridget) of New Enterprise; grandchildren: Kevin Bechtel (Jackie), Joanie Replogle, Justin Replogle, Kendra Bollinger (Walter), Ashton Miller, Ryan Miller (Carrie), and Emma Price (Zach); 9 great-grandchildren; and siblings, June Smith (Harold) and Vernon Colledge (Theresa).

At request of the deceased, no services will be held. Inurnment will be held privately in Koontz Cemetery - New Enterprise.

If so desired, Memorial Contributions in Helen’s name may be given to the Koontz Cemetery Association (138 Flash Dr. New Enterprise, PA 16664).
