Helen R. Hamm

Helen Ruth Hamm, 96, of Martinsburg, passed away Friday evening, November 6, 2020 at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
She was born in Martinsburg, daughter of the late H. Elvin and Ruth Emma (Dilling) Cunningham. On December 11, 1943 she married Orville Leonard Hamm in Martinsburg and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie J. Davis (husband, Dick) of Acme; a son, Robert D. Hamm of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon K. Thompson; a son, Randy L. Hamm; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lee Feathers; two sisters: Hazel Thomas and Dorothy Steele; and four brothers: Raymond, Earl, Lloyd “Buck” and William “Bill”.
Helen was a 1942 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. She worked as a waitress at Teeter’s Restaurant, Martinsburg and also cleaned houses for many family and neighbors in the cove.
She was longtime, active member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren. Helen also served faithfully for the Martinsburg Vol. Fire Company and D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43, Martinsburg auxiliaries.
Helen loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed cooking, baking and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Friends will be received from 10:30am until noon, Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will follow at noon, Pastor Chris Garretson officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
