Helen Marie Burger, 83, rural Williamsburg, passed away Sunday at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Grant and H. Ruth (Sorrick) Frye. She married Edward A. Burger on August 3, 1949.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years; 2 daughters: Karen Arnold (husband, Herman), Christine Hughes (husband, Mark); a son, Larry (wife, Joleen); 7 grandchildren: Michael and Jeff Rupeka, Jamie Houck, Kristie Burger, Cody and Casey Gorsuch, and Elle Detwiler; 9 great grandchildren: Abigail and Andrew Rupeka, Tyler, Josh, and Lexi Rupeka, Justin and Juliana Houck, Raiden Gorsuch and Skylar Gorsuch; a sister, Doris Ann Reigh (husband, Fred); numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Lillie.
She was preceded in death by a son Eddie Alan Burger; 6 brothers: Fred, Chester, George, Norman, Theodore and Francis; 2 sisters: Esther Waite and Margie Kennedy.
Helen was a 1949 graduate of Williamsburg High School.
She retired as a Nurse’s Aide from Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, after 17 years of service.
Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am, Monday, June 15, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Home Nursing Agency Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg.
