On September 19, 1949, she married the love of her life, Thomas Richard (Dick) Ferry in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2010; ending a union of 60 years. Her love for her family was limitless. There were many kids that were taken into the Ferry household over the years and all were welcomed and cared for with open arms. There was always room for extras at Helen's table! Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Smith and sisters, Marcia Davis and Louise Foor.
Helen graduated from the Robert P. Smith High School as a member of the Class of 1948. She was a member of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. She also served as President of the Lioness Club, the Women’s Club, and the Cove Community Club. Helen was dedicated to helping all those in need around her. She loved crafting, quilting, and cooking. She was a friend to all and all were lucky to have known her. Helen was the Wage tax collector for the Northern Bedford School District for 40 years.
