Helen M. “Pinky” Hein

Helen M. “Pinky” Hein 76, of Hollidaysburg, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 13, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Roaring Spring a daughter of the late John and Helen (Umbower) Despot. On May 31, 1969 in Altoona, she married Gordon A. Hein who survives along with a son Robert T. Hein, of Altoona; two sisters: Linda K. Despot and Bonnie J. Middleton and husband Dennis, both of Hollidaysburg; niece Heather Moyer, nephew Jason Bottenfield, two great-nephews: Maxwell Bottenfield, and Collin Spotts, an aunt Cheryl Umbower, brother-in-law Tom Hein, and numerous cousins.
Pinky was a 1966 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School and retired after 47 years as a customer service representative from the former Atlantic Broadband. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg, and faithfully read her daily devotionals Our Daily Bread and The Upper Room. Pinky enjoyed shopping, flowers, cooking, reading, vacationing at the beach, and her cat Earl.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 1-2 pm at the Fink & Stone Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joleen Willis officiating. Private burial at Royer Cemetery. Those wishing may make contributions in Pinky’s name to: Central PA Humane Society or a charity of choice.
