Herbert Clair Houp 92, a resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, passed away Monday morning, May 26, 2025 at Homewood.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Robert and Irene (Weyant) Houp.  On January 24, 1953 he married Hazel Viola Snively in Ore Hill and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2021.

Surviving are two sons: Steven C. Houp of Woodbury, and Barry E. (Robin) Houp, of Ore Hill; and seven grandchildren: Jason Houp, Justin Houp (Chelsea), Shane Houp, Brendan, Trisha, Rochelle, and Remmy.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, and two siblings: Donald Houp and Betty Keagy.

Herb attended Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

He was employed at the Roaring Spring Blank Book Company, and later retired from Cobilt Inc., Martinsburg, where he built homes and sold building supplies.  After retiring, Herb worked part time for Woodbury Township.

Herb was a member of Ravers Gap Sportsman Association and Mt. Pleasant Church in Martinsburg and more recently attended the Martinsburg Church of God.

He enjoyed painting Bob Ross tutorials, working in his woodshop, and being outdoors.

All services will be private and interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
