Irvin Ronald Honsaker

Irvin Ronald Honsaker, 75, of Roaring Spring, passed away on November 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 16, 1940 in Roaring Spring and was the son of Irvin and Carolyn (Guyer) Honsaker. On September 1, 1962, Ron married Jacqueline Elaine (Evans) Honsaker at the 28th St. Church of the Brethren in Altoona.  Ron graduated from Central High School, was the owner of Honsaker Bros. Meat Market for his entire working career, and was a member of the Martinsburg Mennonite Church. His interests included sports (especially baseball and the Pittsburgh Pirates), playing fast-pitch softball, bowling, golf cart rides with his grandchildren, camping, Chinese Checkers, and rabbit hunting. Ron was the founder and “King” of the “Ugga Bugga Boo Club”. Above all else, his beloved wife Jackie brought him more joy than anything else in the world. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Kay Honsaker. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughters, Tami E. Grosmick of Monrovia, MD; Rhonda L. Butler (Larry) of Huntingtown, MD; Melissa J. Austin of Hollidaysburg; Lori A. Kuncheff (David) of Mount Airy, MD; Karen E. Yingling (David) of Duncansville; and Amy N. Knisley of East Freedom.  Also surviving are sisters Linda Greenleaf and Marlene Keith as well as 21 grandchildren. Friends will be received on Thursday, December 1st from 7:00PM-9:00PM at the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home in Woodbury.  A second visitation will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the Martinsburg Mennonite Church.  At 11:00 AM on Friday, a service will take place with Joe Furry officiating. Interment is at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) (1-800-272-3900) in loving support of his wife, Jackie.  Arrangements by the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury.
