September 5, 1934    April 2, 2019

J. Edward “Ed” Biddle, 84, of rural Williamsburg, went home to be with his Lord and daughter, Sharon, Tuesday evening, April 2, 2019 at his home, after a lengthy struggle with his health.

He was born in rural Williamsburg, son of the late Robert L. and M. Grace (Hoover) Biddle.  On May 13, 1956 he married LaDonna M. Longenecker at Smithfield Church of the Brethren, rural Martinsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years; two sons: James E. (Carol) Biddle and Michael P. (Tammy) Biddle both of rural Williamsburg; a daughter, Sheila B. (Darryl) Reiner of Shippensburg; 16 grandchildren: Sarrah Lyons, J. Matthew, Joshua and Zachary Biddle, Joseph, Jonathan, Jacob and Jeffrey Emenheiser, Elizabeth Isenberg, Olivia Biddle, Christopher, Dakota and Michael Biddle, Chelsea Hamman, and Nathaniel and Mikaela Reiner; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon L. Emenheiser and her husband Benjamin Emenheiser; a sister, Lois Mohansingh; and two brothers: Robert J. and J. Alfred Biddle.

He was a 1951 graduate of Williamsburg High School and also the first student at the school to receive the Keystone Farmer Degree from the FFA.  Ed attended the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and was a lifelong dairy farmer along Clover Creek in rural Williamsburg.

Ed also was instrumental in starting the now, annual Williamsburg Community Farm Show.  He also served on the Williamsburg School Board, Blair County Planning Commission and for many years as a Woodbury Township Supervisor.

He enjoyed building stone structures on their farm, but his true love was his family and the legacy he and LaDonna established on their farm along Clover Creek.

Friends will be received from 5-8pm, Friday, April 5, 2019 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and from 12:30 until the 2pm funeral service, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the church, Pastor Brian McCall, Pastor James Laird and Mr. Daniel Horton officiating.  Private interment will be held at Snively Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Ed can be given to Williamsburg Public Library, 511 W. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693, Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, 300 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, PA 16662 or John’s Way Ministry, 137 Church Hill Ln., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
