Janet Louise Smith, 77, current resident at Graystone Manor at Bellmeade, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully and gracefully, Monday morning at UPMC Altoona.

She was born on her family’s farm in rural Martinsburg, daughter of the late Amon L. and Susae V. (Dilling) Smith.

Surviving are a brother, Blair D. Smith (wife, Barbara) of Pleasant Gap; a sister-in-law, Jean Smith of Martinsburg; a brother-in-law, Dave Dunmire of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Clyde D., Eli D., and Mahlon D.; and 2 sisters: Darlene G. Smith and Vera M. Dunmire.

Louise was a graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and received her Bachelor of Science degree in teaching from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.

She taught school in both the Martinsburg and Pittsburgh area School Districts.

Louise was of the Christian faith and was a member of AGLOW.

She enjoyed music and art.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.  Private inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Graystone Manor at Bellmeade.
