Jack B. Weaver, 89 of The CLC, James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, PA, formerly of Saxton, passed away Saturday, at the Center.

He was born August 22, 1925 in Saxton, son of the late William Weaver and Mary (Boose) Weaver.

Jack married Jean (Snoeberger) Weaver November 24, 1943 at the Saxton First Church of God parsonage and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2013.

He is survived by a daughter, Connie Maslanik and husband Daniel of Saxton.  Surviving grandchildren are Stephen Maslanik; Dana Maslanik Burk; Katherine Stoudnour and husband Mathew; Suzanne Molosky and husband Jeremy, all of Saxton.  Great grandchildren are Nicolas and Nathan Maslanik; Emily Burk; Jack and Chase Stoudnour; and Madeline, Meghan and Molly Molosky.

He was preceded in death by brothers Cloyd, Preston, Sheldon, William, Jr., and Donald Weaver; and a sister Marguerite Weaver.

Jack was a lifelong member of the Saxton First Church of God and active in the following organizations:  Life member of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company; 60 year member of the F & AM Masonic Lodge # 524, Everett, PA; Harrisburg Consistory; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; The Order of the Oddfellows, Jaffa Shrine, Altoona, PA; VFW Post 4129; American Legion Post 169; and a he was a Democratic Liberty Township Committeeman for many years.

Tech Sergeant Jack Weaver proudly served in the US Army from 1943 – 1945 in World War II in the European Theater.  He worked as a truck driver for Penelec for 39 years until his retirement in 1988.   He was a founding member of Weaver Brothers Auctioneers with his brothers Preston and Donald.  A licensed auctioneer, Jack enjoyed calling sales in his free time throughout Central PA and at the Bellville Auctions.

Jack will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be sadly missed roving the VA halls where he was lovingly referred to as “The Mayor of the VA.”

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Shawn Akers Funeral Home, Saxton, PA.  A funeral service will take place at the Shawn Akers Funeral Home under the direction of the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home on Wednesday December 17th at 11:00 AM with Pastors James Lynn and James Snyder officiating.  Friends may also call one hour before this service.  Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, PA with Military honors. A Saxton Fire Company memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM and a Masonic service will take place at 7:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the ICC Food Pantry, 1416 Dudley Rd., P.O. Box 188, Dudley, PA 16634 or to the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company, Saxton, PA 16678.
