James L. “Jim” Chesney, 70 rural Williamsburg, passed away Thursday morning at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles F. and Queen (Dunlap) Chesney.  On July 29, 1967 he married Cora Bernadine Frye in Winchester, VA.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years; 6 sons: James Jr. (Peggy), Gary (Inna), Wayne (Jeannette), Joe (Delsie), Mike (Kari), and Bill Showalter (Leslie) all of rural Williamsburg; a daughter, Donna Chesney (Malcolm) of Roaring Spring; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers: John, Robert and Gabriel all of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura L. Chesney; 2 brothers: Fred and Charles; and 2 sisters: Prudence Kirkpatrick and Dolly Chesney.

Jim attended Altoona High School and was employed as an over the road truck driver, hauling steel most of his working years.  He also owned and operated a pallet shop in rural Williamsburg with his sons for many years.

He loved working and spending time with his family, and also enjoyed driving his truck and shooting the breeze with friends.

Friends will be received from 1-3pm, Monday, December 26, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.  A funeral service will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home, Pastor Gordie Trimer officiating.  Private interment will be held at Oreminea Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
