James L. Pennel
June 30, 1931 — March 22, 2014
James L. Pennel, 82, of Churchview Road, Loysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Pennknoll Village, after a courageous battle with Parkison’s Disease.
He was born on June 30, 1931 in Loysburg, a son of the late J. ‘Lawrence’ and Jennie (Kauffman) Pennel.
On July 15, 1954, he married Shirley (Hoagland) Pennel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Luann, wife of D. John Machise, Longwood Fl; Carla wife of Gary Shryock, Clearville; Karen wife of Tom Jones, Loysburg; sister Elaine Pennel, Philadelphia; brothers Fred and Don K. Pennel, Loysburg; Grandchildren, Chad Shryock, Heidi Race, Aleecha Johnson, Nick Jones; and great-grandchildren Lilly Johnson and Raiden Race.
He was preceded in death by a sister Delores Abbitt.
He graduated from Replogle High School in 1950 and was a retired self-employed truck driver and life-long farmer. He was a member of the Northern Bedford Seniors, enjoyed traveling, his tractors and working on his farm. He attended Community Grace Brethren Church, Everett.
A Memorial Service will be held at Community Grace Brethren Church, Everett, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 with Pastor Jeff Peeler officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Grace Brethren Church Building Fund, 1216 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
