James Melvin Crawford

James Melvin Crawford, 86, of New Enterprise, passed away at his home on April 3, 2018. He was born in Bedford on June 16, 1931, son of the late Carl and Nellie (Diehl) Crawford. On January 10, 1953 he married Helen Thomas, she preceded him in death on November 13, 2002. James was a graduate of Replogle High School and was employed by the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 354. He enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, gardening, and sporting events. James was a member of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren and a past member of the Everett Redman. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen and 12 siblings. Surviving are children Don Thomas of Hopewell; Sheila Crawford of New Enterprise; Bill Crawford (Donna) of New Enterprise; Cindy Damm (Steve) of Phoenix Arizona; Barb Rhoades of New Enterprise; Dale Crawford (Donna) of New Enterprise; Wade Crawford (Chris) of Loysburg; and Jimmy Crawford (Sheila) of New Enterprise. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and number nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM and Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 10:00-11:00AM. At 11:00AM, Saturday, a funeral service will take place. All of the above will be held at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Interment will be at Salemville Cemetery.
