James P. “Jimmy” Wyland

James P. “Jimmy” Wyland, 88, resident of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of Williamsburg, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and be reunited with his sons, Bryan O. and Barrie R., and grandson Whitney O.

He was born in rural Williamsburg, son of the late James K. and Margaret V. (Hutchison) Wyland.  On April 26, 1952 he married Darlene M. Imler at Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years; a daughter, Sharon H. (Melvin) Settle of Altoona; two daughters-in-law: Cathy J. Wyland and Karen S. Wyland (Barry Heverly) both of Williamsburg; five grandchildren: Crystal, Amanda, Ryan, Darla, and Valerie; two step-grandchildren: Angie and Denise; eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Alex, Abby, Aden, Mary, Ethan, Eli and Bryson; 3 step-great-grandchildren: Abe, Draven and Francis; and a sister, Edith (Marcel) Burki of Sunset Beach, NC.

He was preceded in death by two sons; a grandson; four sisters: Orpha Imler, Dolly Ponish, Edna Williams and Carrie Jeannette Deters; and four brothers: John Benson, David “Benny” Benjamin, Harry S. “Hacky” and Melvin L. Wyland.

Jimmy attended school in Williamsburg and was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg where he served as custodian for 30 years.  He was also a member of Williamsburg Beagle Club and Williamsburg Sportsman’s Club.

He retired in 1993 from Fonda Group Inc., Williamsburg, where he worked in the wax room with over 10 years of service.  Mr. Wyland had previously been employed at Westvaco, Williamsburg where he worked for over 23 years.  Following his retirement, Jimmy worked for many years as a security guard at the Williamsburg Farm Show.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.  Jimmy also enjoyed gardening, hunting, riding his moped, hanging out at Gorsuch Auto Parts and frequented Rails to Trails on his bike and on foot with his granddog, Caramel.

Friends will be received from 2-5pm, Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg and from 10 am until the 11 am, funeral service, Monday, January 15, 2018 at the church, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating.  Interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory can be given to Williamsburg Vol. Fire Company, 305 E. Second St., Williamsburg, or Williamsburg Ambulance Club, PO Box 94, Williamsburg.
