James W. Rightenour, 61, of Altoona, passed away on November 13, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on December 21, 1963 in Roaring Spring; son of the late Elvin and Icy Regina (Longenecker) Rightenour.
James was a Class of 1981 graduate of Northern Bedford County High School and later attended welding trade school. James was a master carpenter/construction worker, completing numerous projects in and around Altoona throughout the years. He enjoyed NASCAR, Steeler Football, and Wrestling. James was a member of the 18th Street Community Church and felt great joy while driving a student school van for Student Transportation of America.
James was preceded in death by his siblings, Merle, Sarah, John, Glenn, Barry, and Eleanor. Surviving is his wife, Barbara Leskie; step-children, Christopher, Cammie, Cattie, and Casey; 4 special buddies, Keegan, Kasen, Kobey, and Milo; brother, Willis Rightenour (Rheda) of Claysburg; sister, Fern Dick (James, dec.) of Duncansville; brother, Robert Rightenour of Mount Union; sister, Nettie Mooney of Hollidaysburg; brother, George Rightenour (Patty) of Altoona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Fink & Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury; Pastor Nate Germany officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 6:00-8:00PM and Tuesday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery – Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in James’s name may be made to Student Transportation of America.
