James W. "Jay" Kirkman

James W. “Jay” Kirkman, 77, of New Enterprise, passed away on April 29, 2021 at UPMC Bedford Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1944 in Asheboro, NC; son of the late Floyd Worth and Nannie (Smith) Kirkman. On November 22, 1967 at the Red Cross Baptist Church in Climax, NC; he was united in marriage to Carolyn (Mapes) Kirkman. Jay worked in education as well as construction and enjoyed golfing and gardening in his free time. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Wilma, Peggy, and Mary and a brother Jesse. Surviving are wife Carolyn; daughter Ginger Bowman of New Enterprise; son Patrick Kirkman (Carolyn) of Yadkinville, NC; grandchildren Justin, Zachary, Cameron, Grace, Christopher, and Angelina; and sisters Betty Burton, Lucille Whitaker, and Doris Kirkman. Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 10:00-11:00AM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury.  At 11:00AM a funeral service will take place at the funeral home with son, Patrick Kirkman officiating.
