James Ray Weyant Jr., 79, Martinsburg, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late James Ray Sr. and Mary Catherine (Feathers) Weyant. On April 9, 1960 he married Anna Kay Burket at St. Paul Lutheran Church, East Freedom.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years; 2 daughters: Tracey Dennis and Kim Lee (husband, Alvin) both of Duncansville; a son, James Ray Weyant III (wife, Kristi) of Sarasota, FL; 5 grandchildren: Janelle Dennis and Emma, Ava, Gracie, and Harper Weyant; 2 sisters: Betty George of Duncansville and Sally Lingenfelter (husband, Paul) of Newry.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in- law, Robert George.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of Claysburg High School and was a U.S. Army veteran earning the Good Conduct Medal and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Sprint Corporation (formerly United Telephone Company) for 40 years until his retirement in 1999.
Jim was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg and a former member of Iron Masters Country Club and the Roaring Spring Lions Club.
He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed playing golf and softball.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm, Thursday, July 14, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 am, Friday, July 15, 2016 at the funeral home, Pastor Timothy H. Knauss officiating. Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 115 East Penn St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
