Janet Lynn Guyer, 70, Martinsburg, entered into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, July 30, 2017. She was born February 6, 1947, daughter of the late Charles E. and C. Evelyn (Miller) Diehl. She married Kenneth James Guyer on June 22, 1968, in Altoona. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2018. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Joy Guyer of Martinsburg; two sons: Jason (Michelle) of Roaring Spring, and Justin (Casey) of Altoona; three sisters: Carol (Steve) Smith of Tipton, Loretta (James) Rhodes of Hollidaysburg, and Linda Rannels of Holtwood; and five grandchildren: Katie and Rachel Guyer; Caiah, Jonah, and Judah Guyer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Irwin. Janet retired in 2008 from M&T Bank with nearly 40 years of service, starting out as a teller and working her way up to assistant management at her local branch in Bellwood. Following her retirement, she found what she considered to be her “true calling”: caring for and mentoring her grandchildren. Janet had a talent for design, decorating her home from top to bottom, inside and out, for every holiday. She was a skilled cook and a talented baker, famous for several of her recipes, such as pineapple upside down cake and homemade donuts. Some of her favorite activities were going out to eat and shopping with friends and family. Janet was a “fashionista” with a great eye for bargains. She enjoyed taking photographs of beautiful skyscapes, and she enjoyed all types of flowers, but especially roses. She was a woman of great faith, kindness and compassion. She always put others needs above her own. Janet attended church her entire life, most recently attending Puzzletown Road Bible Church in Newry. Janet was many things to many people: wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She cherished her family and each of these roles. Janet was the heart of her family and enjoyed any activity where she could be with them. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. At Janet’s request, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home, LLC (weaversfh.com); Woodbury.
