Janet Marlene (Shaw) Detterline

Janet Marlene (Shaw) Detterline, 87, of New Enterprise, passed away on January 3, 2024 at her home. She was born on May 18, 1936 in Roaring Spring; daughter of the late Kessler Alvie and Gladys Irene (Smith) Shaw. On August 23, 1952 at the Dry Run Church in Puzzletown, she was united in marriage to Charles Melvin Detterline; he preceded her in death on March 11, 2003.

Janet attended the Koontz Church of the Brethren and enjoyed family time, decorating, baking, helping others, and loved her country. After retirement from the Cove Shoe Factory, Janet worked at Abby’s Daycare; she was “Nan” to many.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and a daughter, Corinna Jo. Surviving is daughter, Brenda Patterson of New Enterprise; daughter, Vickie Detwiler of New Enterprise; daughter, Charlotte Holsinger of New Enterprise; son, Charles Neal Detterline of Dudley; daughter, Sharon Reininger of New Enterprise; son, Melvin Detterline of Hopewell; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert N. Shaw; sisters, Judith McClellan, Donna Simington, and Sue Sassaman; and her precious dog, Sadie.

At request of the deceased, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Private Interment will be in Holsinger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Janet’s name can be made to UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice or Donna Crawford Dog Boarding.
