Jay T. Guyer, 79, Martinsburg, passed away, Friday afternoon at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring following an extended illness.

He was born in Bellefonte, son of the late Truster S. and Velma E. (Laxton) Guyer.  He married Shirley J. Stonerook on June 8, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Woodbury.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years; a daughter, Julie A. Torrance (Rick) of Syracuse, NY; a son, Jay L. (Wendy) of Martinsburg; 3 grandchildren: Heather Wensley of Fairport, NY, Dylan Lamborn of Philadelphia, and Jenna Guyer at home; and 2 great-grandchildren: Brooks and Lucas Wensley.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ralph and Charles Guyer.

Jay was a 1954 graduate of Woodbury High School and a 1958 graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in business.

He attended the Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Jay was a member of the former Martinsburg Rotary Club and a former member of Iron Masters Country Club, Roaring Spring.

He enjoyed listening to music, singing, golfing, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football games.

Friends will be received from 2-5 pm, today, May 15, 2016 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.  A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Monday, May 16, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Robert A. Russell officiating.  Private interment will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church (C/O Church Choir), 300 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
