Jean M. Smith, 90, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018, at The Village at Morrisons Cove.

She was born in Frederick, MD, daughter of the late Rev. Tobias F. and Alma G. (Koontz) Henry.  On May 15,1959, she married Mahlon D. Smith in Winchester, VA, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1973.

Surviving are two sons: Mark E. (Cheri) of Martinsburg and Jeffrey F. (Clare) of Eldersburg, MD; five grandchildren: Chris Cogan, Josh Cogan (Janelle), Wade Matthew Smith (Jill) and Nichole Dalton (Mark), and E. Logan Smith and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy M. Cogan; a brother, John F. Henry and a sister, Caroline V. Betts.

Jean was a 1946 graduate of Huntingdon High School.  She was a member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren and also the Friends of the Martinsburg Community Library.

She held various jobs over the years, before receiving training to become a nursing assistant at The Village, where she retired after ten years of service.

Jean most loved spending time with her family and friends, and also enjoyed reading and shopping.

Friends will be received from 10:30am until the noon funeral service, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, Pastor Chris Garretson officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
