Jeanne Loree Skillington passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, August 13, 2022, at Homewood at Martinsburg, 18 days before her 98th birthday.

She was born in Marklesburg, daughter of the late James Roy Hess and Martha Alverta Norris Hess.  After graduating from Huntingdon High School, she married Charles M. Skillington, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2003.  During their 58 years of marriage, they resided in Clearfield and Ridgway, PA, where they raised their family before retiring to Huntingdon, and later to Homewood at Martinsburg.

She had many pleasures in life, especially drinking endless cups of decaffeinated coffee each day.  Jeanne also enjoyed traveling, entertaining, reading, and playing card games, particularly bridge games with friends.  She was also a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Martinsburg.

Jeanne is survived by her three sons: Charles “Chuck” R. of Titusville, FL (Maureen), Gary L. of Hanover, and Richard M. of Columbus, OH (Carol); five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Abbott; and two brothers: Roy J. and Thomas L. Hess.

Her remains will be inurned, alongside her husband, in a private ceremony at the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Marklesburg.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jeanne may be given to Homewood at Martinsburg Benevolent Fund, 437 Givler Dr., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
