Jerome Verbit, 73, of Martinsburg, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh. He was born on March 18, 1944 in Woodbury, the son of the late Alphonse A. and Edith LaRue (Miller) Verbit. On February 28, 1966 he married Sheri A. Hoover in the Chapel at the Morrisons Cove Home. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Sherlyn Douglas (Dennis) of Jacks Corner; a son, Brice Verbit (Mattie) of Frosty Hollow; and four grandchildren, Duelin Douglas, Madilyn Douglas, Landon Verbit, and Ava Verbit. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Verbit. Jerome was a 1962 graduate of Central High School and a 1970 graduate of Western Michigan University. He also served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. In 2001, Jerome retired from UPS after 30 years of service. Jerome enjoyed his grandchildren, he loved being a Pappy. He also loved Mopars, especially Challengers and Cudas. Friends will be received on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 5:00-8:00PM and Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 10:00-11:00AM. At 11:00AM Tuesday, a Funeral Service will take place with Pastor David Ulm officiating. All of the above will be held at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Interment at Dry Hill Cemetery.
