Jesse Robert “Bob” Glass, 77, East Freedom, passed away early Sunday morning at his home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Jesse W. and Anna Pearl (Quarry) Glass.  He married Judith A. Conrad on March 11, 1966 in East Freedom.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years; a daughter, Hadassa Gaver (husband, Brian) of Huntingdon; a son, Jesse A. (wife, Celeste) of Roaring Spring; 2 grandchildren: Levi and Kyla Glass; a brother, G. William of Roaring Spring; and a step brother, Roger Quarry of Loysburg.

He was preceded in death by a step sister, Jean Drake.

Jesse was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, East Freedom.

He was a 1956 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.

Jesse retired as a paper tester from Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Spring in 2000 after 28 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1958-1965 attaining the rank of SP5.

Jesse was a former member of Ducks Unlimited, and enjoyed waterfowl hunting, fishing for trout, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or service.

A private graveside service with full military honors accorded by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg, Pastor Kenneth G. Downs officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
