Joan S. (Stayer) Hall

November 17, 1928 — March 24, 2016

Joan S. Hall, 87, of Loysburg, passed away on March 24, 2016 at Colonial Courtyard in Bedford. Born on November 17, 1928, in Woodbury, the daughter of Paul B. and Dorothy (Hoover) Stayer. On December 27, 1953, in New Enterprise, she married Herbert D. Hall who preceded her in death on August 15, 2014. She was a 1950 graduate of Juniata College. Joan taught elementary education and music at Greenwood (Altoona) and later at Benson (Roaring Spring) until retiring in 1985. She was also Secretary from 1976-2012 of the family business, W. L. Hall Lime and Coal. Joan had a love for music. She was a member of the “Lorelei Barbershop Singing Group “of Bedford and the “Sweet and Sassy Four Singing Group.” She was a member of the Loysburg United Methodist Church where she was Church Organist and Choir Director for many years. Joan was an active member in the Cove Loins Club and was secretary for both, the Loysburg and Stayer Cemetery Associations. Surviving is son Douglas Hall (Joanne); grandson Tyler Hall (Brittany); grandson Tadd Hall; and great-grandson Dolan all of Loysburg.  Also surviving is brother Richard Stayer of Peliona, Illinois. Friends will be received from 4:00PM-8:00PMon Monday, March 28th and from 10:00AM-11:00AM on Tuesday, March 29th. At 11:00AM on Tuesday a funeral service will be held with Pastor David Meckley officiating and Al Macpherson assisting.  All of the above will be held at the St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg, PA. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity or organization of your choice. Arrangements by the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home; Woodbury.
