Joe W. Reffner, 96, of Centerville, formerly of New Enterprise, passed away on June 27, 2024 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1927 in Flitch; son of the late Wilson and Sallie (Bowser) Reffner. On July 24, 1952 at the Koontz Church of the Brethren, he was united in marriage to LaDonna J. (Baker) Reffner.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He served four total years, three of which were spent as a propeller instructor. Joe was a mechanic by trade, first working for Don Rice Ford for 12 years and later working for and retiring from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. after 24 years.
He was a member of the Koontz Church of the Brethren and previously served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Once moving, he began attending Bedford Valley Bible Church. Joe enjoyed airplanes, machinery and farm equipment, and gardening. He was involved with the Southern Cove Power Reunion and NEVER met a stranger.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife LaDonna on March 10, 2013 and siblings, Elda Mock and Albert and James Reffner. Surviving is son, Wade Reffner (Gloria) of Centerville; son, Robert Reffner (Sandy) of New Enterprise; grandchildren, Joe, Deanna, Ken, Becky, and James; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jadyn, Justus, Josiah, Jonathan, Aviva, Owen, Addison, and McKenna; and step-great-grandchildren, Braydon and Madisson.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 4:00-7:00PM and Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM Funeral Service at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury. Pastor John Hollis officiating. Interment will be in Koontz Cemetery.
