John W. Bechtel II, 44, Altoona, died Tuesday evening at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of Shirley (Creps) Bechtel of Martinsburg and John W. Bechtel (wife, Lucretia) of Fort Myers, FL.
Johnny grew up and was on the cradle roll, attended Sunday and Bible Schools, and was also in the Boy’s Club at Leamersville Grace Brethren Church.
Through his elementary grades, he played several sports for Hollidaysburg and at the YMCA. He was a recipient of a Cub Scout Award and also received his GED with the Hollidaysburg Class of 1990. Johnny was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also enjoyed going to local trivia nights and was a real history buff.
Johnny had worked at the Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg, General Cable and in more recently at PGW, Tipton.
He will be forever here and throughout all eternity loved and remembered for his quiet, gentle, and thankful spirit and was always there for and helping friends.
Friends will be received from 1pm until the 3pm funeral service, Monday, January 9, 2017 at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Pastor David F. Banaszak officiating. Private interment will be held at Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
