John Reese Brumbaugh, 88, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in Edgewood, Florida, after a brief illness. Born on March 25, 1937, in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Lester L. and Lorena I. (Smith) Brumbaugh.
On August 8, 1956, John married the love of his life, Joyce D. (Frederick), in Luray, Virginia. Their marriage of nearly 69 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Joyce survives him at their home in Kissimmee.
John was a devoted father to Adam T. Brumbaugh (Noreen) of State College, PA, and Stacy B. Lingenfelter (Jerry) of Clermont, FL. He was a proud grandfather to David and Daniel Lingenfelter, and Seth, John, and Aaron Brumbaugh, and found great joy in the lives of his seven great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his sister, Doris (Butler) of New Enterprise, PA, and was preceded in death by siblings Eva (Kauffman), Lester Leroy, Myrtle (Bair), Norma (James), Winona (Butler), Patricia (Collare), and Jeanette, who died in infancy. John also leaves behind several step-siblings, nieces, and nephews.
A 1955 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School in Martinsburg, PA, John enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduation and honorably served in Germany until his discharge in 1957. His working years were marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. He was employed at the D.M. Bare paper mill in Roaring Spring, PA; Owens–Illinois, Inc. in Bedford, PA; and Sears Automotive in Altoona, PA. He later relocated to Florida, where he retired from McLane SunEast in Poinciana in 1991.
A man of deep faith, John was a member of the Christian Church of Kissimmee, FL, and previously a member of the Curryville Church of the Brethren in Curryville, PA. He was a quiet, steadfast presence—devoted to his wife, deeply proud of his family, and especially delighted by the time he spent with his grandsons.
John had a gift for working with his hands, finding enjoyment and satisfaction in woodworking and home improvement projects. His legacy is one of love, integrity, and devotion—an example to his family and all who knew him.
