John D. Croft, 85, originally of Ore Hill, rural Roaring Spring, residing at The Village of Morrisons Cove, died Wednesday evening, June 28, 2023 at the home.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Eldon M. and Irene M. (Shehan) Croft. On January 4, 1958 he married Hazel I. Royer at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2009, after 51 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Deb Detwiler, of Lancaster and Donna Litzenberger, of Imler; a son, Bob Croft (Idella), of Midlothian, Virginia; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Morningstar (Gary) of Huntingdon.

John was a 1957 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School and was a member of Foot of Ten Independent Bible Church, Duncansville.

He retired from Blank Book as a supervisor and in his younger years, served as a Martinsburg Police Officer and Volunteer Fire Fighter.

John enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors, gardening, and attending functions through local Sportman’s Clubs, where he was a member.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Sunday, July 2, 2023, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Martinsburg. A graveside service will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 3, 2023, at Brumbaugh Cemetery, rural Martinsburg, Pastor Betty Royer officiating.
