John L. Dively

John L. Dively 87, of Roaring Spring formerly of Royer, rural Williamsburg, passed away Thursday evening, December 28, 2023 at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona.
He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Albert P. and Annie (Feathers) Dively. On April 27, 1963 he married Thelma M. Fisher in Claysburg.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Thelma of 60 years; a daughter, Gail Claybaugh (Thomas) of rural Williamsburg; a son, Jeff Dively (Connie) of Woodbury; three grandchildren: Samantha Claybaugh, Michael Claybaugh and Tanner Dively; a great-granddaughter, Addison McGregor; and a brother, Richard Dively (Mary) of Claysburg.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: infant Mary Jane, and twins: Lena Billy and Lona Brown; and three brothers: Jessie, Charles and Raymond Dively.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1959-1961 attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked for many years as a pattern designer at the Cove Shoe Company in Martinsburg. John was also employed at U.S. Sports in Huntingdon and as a security guard at Westvaco, Williamsburg.
He was a lifetime member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and a member of the Allegheny Club in Hollidaysburg. John Loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping with bingo at the Veteran’s Hospital, gardening and running Dively’s Greenhouse.
At John’s request there will be no public services and private interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
