John E. Echard, 83, of Claysburg formerly of Altoona went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday morning, June 21, 2023, following a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona son of the late Raymond O. and Rose L. (Dunkle) Echard.

Surviving is a sister, Janet Echard, of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by four brothers: Kenneth, Jack, Raymond and William Echard; and two sisters: Betty Echard and Myrtle Wike.

He retired as a maintenance worker in 1997 from UPMC Altoona.  John enjoyed walking, reading local newspapers and current events.  For many years, Johnny, also loved camping and fishing with his brothers, Ken and Bill.

John was a peaceful, gentle soul who was loved by all.

A public graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Johnny may be given to your favorite charity.
