JOHN I. KENNEDY, 88 OF Duff Drive Altoona, formerly of New Enterprise, Died 02/02/2015 at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born 05/10/1928 in Potter Creek the son of Henry and Marie (Baker) Kennedy. Married Esther P. (Bratton). He served in the Navy for 6 years and was a WWII Vet of the Pacific Theater where he was a 1st Gunners Mate on the USS Hemminger, He was an avid Trout fisherman for 75 years. And was a member of the Trout’s Unlimited for 32 years an active in environment Projects, worked with Blair Co. Soil Conservation, was a member of the Yellow Creek Coalition and worked with the PA Game Commission for over 50 years. He received many conservation awards.
Survived by: His wife, two daughters Carol and husband Gordon Williams of OH, Sandy and husband John McClellan of Lakemont, one son Barry of Altoona, 8 Grandchildren 23 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren.
Friends Received 4-8 Thursday the 5th and 10-11am Friday the 6th all at the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home where an 11 am service will be held, interment at the Holsinger Cemetery.
