John J. Rightenour, Sr.

John J. Rightenour, Sr., of Woodbury, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2024. John was born on September 7, 1946 in Roaring Spring, the son of Elvin and Icy Regina (Longenecker) Rightenour. He was united in marriage to Carol (Lantz) on February 24, 1965.

John is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, John Rightenour, Jr. and wife Aleah; his daughter, Cathy Guyer and husband Lee; and his grandson, Kaden Rightenour, all of Woodbury. He is also survived by brother, Willis of Claysburg; sister, Fern Dick of Duncansville; sister, Nettie Mooney of Hollidaysburg; brother, Robert of Mount Union; and brothers, George and James of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his grandson, Kaleb Rightenour and siblings, Merle, Sarah, Glenn, Barry, and Eleanor.

John was always self-employed, owning Rightenour Pipe Sales for many years. He enjoyed antiques, auctions, and hunting mushrooms with his brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury; Pastor Paul Snyder officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 5:00-8:00PM and Tuesday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery.
