John Samuel Rhoat, 83, of Wood, formerly of Coles Valley, passed away on May 18, 2025 at his home. He was born on October 18, 1941 in Saxton; son of the late John Wellington and Veda Ellen (Hess) Rhoat. On August 11, 2017 at the Wells Tannery Community Park, he was united in marriage to Lisa Ann (Teeters) Rhoat, who survives.
John was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and Baptist in faith. He retired after 31 years from Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Delaware; working in tech 1 and assembly. John enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, flower gardening, and eating out with his wife and friends. John had a love for old cars, trucks, car shows, and Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. He worked with the Railroaders Museum for many years, helping cut the right of way for the railroad.
John was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy; and two brothers, Richard and Tom. Surviving is his wife, Lisa, at their home; daughter, Teresa M. Neuder of Cassville; son, Milford J. Rhoat of Coles Valley; son, Steven James Rhoat of Robertsdale; step-sons, Philip Ruby of Everett and Joshua Ruby of Hopewell; brothers, Jeffrey and Tim Rhoat; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; and the apple of his eye, his fur companion, Gemma.
