John Marlin Shope

John Marlin Shope, 55, of Martinsburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

He was born in Huntingdon, son of the late Marlin M. Shope and Victoria L. (Metzger) Shope-Mann.

Surviving are three children: Victoria L. Shope (husband, Joshua Zinkhan) of Jackson, SC, John E. Shope and Jacob L. Shope both at home; three grandchildren: Kayden, Beau and Lorelai; girlfriend of 12 years, Jennifer Baker; a brother, Byard Mann; and his former wife, Cynthia E. (Coffey) Lee.

He was a 1986 graduate of Huntingdon High School.  John was currently working at Ace Hardware in Huntingdon and was previously employed for close to 20 years for Roaring Spring Water.

John loved spending time with his family and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State Nittany Lions and Michigan Wolverines football.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm, Sunday, July 16, 2023 at D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43, 115 S. Nicodemus St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
