John Wayne Smith, 56, Hollidaysburg formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday morning, September 22, 2022 at Family Hospice, Pittsburgh, following injuries sustained in a house fire.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Melvin Junior and Shirley Jean (Miller) Smith.

Surviving are two sons: Michael Kifer of Williamsburg and Travis Smith of Hollidaysburg; two brothers: Terry Lee Smith and Richard E. Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Andrews; a sister, Tina Marie Detwiler; and two brothers: Melvin L. and James S. Smith.

John was a 1984 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg.  He served as a specialist for Company C, 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry in the Army National Guard.

He was employed as assembly line worker at North American Communications in Duncansville.  John was a member of the Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and also served as a chaplain for numerous district veterans organizations.

The family is planning a celebration of life service for a later date.  Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.

Memorial contributions in memory of John may be given to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
