Joseph J. Very, 82, of Williamsburg passed away Sunday October 16, 2016. He was born in Montrose, son of the late Luther and Lydia (Stevens) Very. On August 20, 1964 he married Anna May Gorman in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are his wife of Williamsburg; his mother-in-law Annetta Brua, a resident of Maybrook Hills Nursing Center, Altoona; a brother-in-law Dr. Charles Brua of State College; his dog “Jodi” and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth and Bruce Very, and sisters Beatrice Valentine and Eleanor Younker.
Mr. Very was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. He was a 1952 graduate of Montrose High School and received his B.S and M.S. Degrees in Agricultural Education from the Pennsylvania State University. He retired as an AG teacher from the Williamsburg School District in 1991 after 35 years of service.
Mr. Very was a member of the Williamsburg Farm Show Association for over 50 years and also was a member of the Williamsburg Lions Club, Williamsburg Betterment Association, the Salvation Army and numerous other organizations throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed collecting antiques, Farmall tractors and other farm equipment.
Friends will be received Wednesday October 19, from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 431 W. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Heather Wurst, officiating. Interment at Royer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Central PA Humane Society.
